Outdoor Scissor Lifts (Diesel, All Terrain)

EzyupHire provides a wide range of Diesel Scissor lifts for hire.

Diesel Scissor Lifts are generally used outdoors. They are large, robust and can tackle even the roughest of terrain. They have individual self-leveling ‘riggers feet’ to ensure a stable & safe working platform.

There is a wide range of sizes available and typically can get much higher than an Electric Scissor Lift whilst having a higher weight capacity. Perfect for the likes of Solar Panel, Roof Sheets and other high-level works.

Here is an overview of different models showcasing their abilities and limitations. We’ll start from small to large and also provide some value engineering. This will help you select the best machine for your hire requirements based on price and site terrains.

Athena Track Mounted 850

The smallest all-terrain scissor lift you can get is the Athena Track mounted. These units are narrow and offer outriggers for uneven terrain. The track mounted drive system means you will get this machine pretty much over any uneven surfaces. They are an expensive machine and have a high daily and weekly hire rate. The platform is around 700mm wide and 1.5m stowed. With the platform extended you will have a platform size of around 2.2m long. Machine width is around 1300mm. I would only suggest these machines if access is really tight and the ground is dirt or uneven. If you have a bit more room you would go a more conventional All terrain 4×4 scissor. They are cheaper to hire and are more attainable. Working height of these is 8.0m.

Snorkel 2255RT Diesel Scissor Lift

The next diesel scissor lift in order of size is Snorkels 2255RT. They offer a working height of 8.5m and have a total machine width of 1.45m. These machines offer great all-terrain ability at a compact size. The difficulty with this scissor is availability. Here in SA, we don’t know of a hire company that has one due to the price and limited utilisation. Hire companies generally stick to the slightly larger machines as they offer better utilisation and have a higher working height.  It has received a lower score based on lack of availability.

Diesel 2669RT, 2770RT, 260MRT, 2668RT

The next diesel scissor lift is the 26 and 27 ft compact range. Every manufacturer makes a scissor lift that is around this size platform, lift capacity, wind rating and working height. These scissor lifts have outriggers fitted for uneven terrains. Drive to wherever you need it, then extend the outriggers down to level the machine. If you are looking for an all-terrain diesel scissor lift and have to get to a working height of 10m and have accessibility to fit 1.8m width machine, you would select these machines. They are regularly available, they are cost-effective, have large lift capacity and are very easy to use. We will provide specs on the Genie model 2669RT but all the brands are much the same. Working height is 10m, machine width 1.8m, stowed height 2.35m, platform width is 1.65m platform and length stowed is 2.7m. With the platform in the extended position, you will end up with a platform length of around 3.9m. The handrails do fold down to 2.1m so if you have to get under a roller door or have a height clearance issue.

Diesel 3369RT

The next diesel machine is the 12m working height compact all terrains. These are the exact same size as the machine above but have a higher working height. There is also a 40ft variant of this model. I have provided a rating for the 40ft model as well.

Every manufacturer makes a scissor lift that is around this size platform, lift capacity, wind rating and working height. These scissor lifts have outriggers fitted for uneven terrains. Diesel 3394RT, 4390RT, 5390RT, 4192RT, 5191RT

The next diesel scissor lift we hire is the Large Platform Range. These have a platform size of 2.4m x 4.0m and with double ended platform extensions. Extended you will end up with a platform length between 6 and 7m long.  Again, every manufacturer has an equivalent machine with similar size and specs. They have the outriggers for levelling the machine. They have a large lift capacity from 650kg to 1000kg depending on the platform height. These machines can hold up to 5 people and are mainly used by roofing and cladding contractors but now have been popular with solar panel install due to large lift capacity. We currently have several units in our fleet which also have non-marking tyres so they can be used on a finished concrete surface.

All-Terrain Diesel Scissor Lift Features:

Diesel Scissor Lift Example Outdoor Functionality

All models have 4-Wheel-Drive capabilities with front oscillating axles. Traction control and four-wheel braking to ensure safe operation for every activity.

Diesel Scissor Lift Example Folding Guardrails + Extendable Platform/Deck

Neatly folding guardrails make it easy to maneuver through openings and throughout other height-restricted areas. When extra reach is required, most models have a 1.5m slide out deck to assist in getting to hard to reach areas.

Diesel Scissor Lift Example Dual Flashing Beacons

Orange flashing lights warn workers when the lift is moving or in operation.

Diesel Scissor Lift Example Non-marking Tyres

Non-marking foam filled rough terrain tyres to allow the machine to be operated on slabs and driveways without leaving tracks from the rubber rubbing onto the surface.
